According to an analysis by the the regulator, Dishnet Wireless had 20 congested points of interconnection (PoIs) in June. A PoI is a geographical location where two networks interconnect and exchange traffic. Against this, BSNL had eight congested PoIs, followed by Vodafone and Aircel with six and three such PoIs, respectively. Trai says the benchmark for the level of congestion at PoIs between various networks is kept at less than 0.5 per cent. This means, of every 200 calls between two operators, only one call should face a problem.
