Ad spend on social media set to grow by 44 per cent
Social media sites have enjoyed a steep surge in popularity, but fail to attract advertisers at the same pace. Only 13 per cent of the total Internet ad spends have gone into social media initiatives for the year 2008-09, according to a recent study of the top 500 marketers in India (Digital Media Outlook 2009 report by Webchutney).

Sales may dip 10%, net profit 7%
The study is based on 237 cos tracked by 11 research firms, including Angel Broking, BNP India, CLSA India, Edelweiss Research.

India Yamaha Motor sales up 44% in October

Two-wheeler maker India Yamaha Motor today said its sales jumped by 44.40 per cent in October at 26,879 units, on positive consumer confidence and recent launches. - India"s sales effectiveness lowest in Asia-Pacific region - Ambuja Cements Oct production at 15 lakh tonnes - Bajaj Auto records 52% sales growth - Hyundai"s October sales up 11% - Maruti sales soar 32% in Oct - TVS reports 12% increase in October sales The company had sold 18,614 units in the same month last year, India Yamaha Motors said in a statement. It attributed the growth to the success of its various launches, besides the return of consumer confidence. "FZ16, Fazer and R15, have received overwhelming consumer response ever since their launch and the same is the case with the new limited editions of FZS, FZ16 and Fazer," India Yamaha Motor Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Yukimine Tsuji said. He said the company"s special offers during the festive season also contributed to the rise in sales. Besides trying to increase sales, the company is also focusing on its recently introduced "Yes! Yamaha" campaign to project its brand image. As part of this, it has introduced the concept of Yamaha Bike Station which functions as showroom-cum-facility provider and also sells parts, the company added.
