US wants to have close relationship with Muslim world

Refraining from making any comment on the Shahrukh Khan detention episode, the Obama Administration today said it wants to build better relationship with the Muslim world. - For US Iraq war would end in 2011: Obama - US markets end -ve; Dow slips 2% - RIL open to CAG audit - Steel pipe sector looks to grow 25% on demand from developed nations - Russia lifts ban on Indian seafood imports - Pork drops 30% in futures as flu cuts Chinese imports "I wouldn"t read anything into that (the incident involving Shahrukh Khan at the Newark airport on Friday)... Obviously, we want to have a close relationship with Muslims around the world," Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs P J Crowley told reporters at the daily State Department news conference. Crowley refused to entertain question on Shahrukh Khan and referred to the statement issued by US Ambassador to India Tim Roemer in New Delhi on Saturday. As the Obama Administration gives importance to building relationship with the Muslim world, Crowley said: "It"s one of the reasons why the President felt strongly about the special outreach to Muslims around the world that he did in his speech in Cairo." As such, Crowley said: "I think there is an ongoing effort to obviously have policies that reflect that outreach, but at the same time, meet our security concerns here in the United States."
